Viking stops shoppers in their tracks in the Victoria Centre
Shoppers who came face-to-face with a Viking in the Victoria Centre on Saturday 7 August were relieved to find out that it was an actor supporting children’s writer, Louise Dale, and her book signing event in WHSmith’s store.
The character was King Canute, a Viking warrior and villain from Millennium Spies. This, Louise Dale’s third title in the Time Trigger series has the richest plot yet with 12 year-olds, Alice and Robert meeting Vikings, Saxons and Normans as they continue their exciting adventures travelling through time. Despite the hot weather outside, the Viking proved to be a hit with the Saturday shoppers.
Louise said, “I’ve held book signings before, but this time I wanted to add something a bit different. Having an actor play ‘King Canute’ brings the story to life for the readers and gives the event another dimension for the store.”
WHSmith’s assistant store manager, Damian Fonseca said, “Louise is always a popular author with our customers. But the addition of an actor in costume, playing a key role from her book made the event more attractive for our store.”
If you missed the event, signed copies of all the titles in the Time Triggers series are available now from WHSmith’s Victoria Centre store and all other good book shops.
